The Gaer is a working farm set in a stunning corner of a valley which is home to a wide variety of wildlife including red kites, buzzards and peregrines. Adults and children alike will enjoy our farm walk, and will meet the pigs, ducks, hens, sheep and pedigree Dexter cattle. Gaer or Caer is a Welsh word meaning fort. Gaer farm and Cottage has this celtic name because it is situated at the base of the Gaer, a Roman watchtower over the valley. The view is incredible and it was truly a superb location as any ruler would have been able to watch the entire valley and surrounding area, even today we have a view of un-scarred Welsh landscape, untouched by urban civilisation. The Bwlch, the welsh name for "gap" is situated between two hillsides, indeed in the gap of the hills. Gaer Farm Meats is our own meat business. All meat products used in the Bed & Breakfast are from our farm. |
